1Who we are and what this covers
Opinion of Punjab (the “Platform”) is owned and operated by ASSOCIATION FOR CITIZEN DEMOCRACY, a not-for-profit company incorporated in India under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, CIN U73200PB2026NPL069721, registered office C/o S. No. 6, Gill Colony, Kingra, Jalandhar – 144001, Punjab, India (the “Company”, “we”, “us”). For personal data processed through the Platform, the Company is the data fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. This Policy covers the Platform and the services offered through it, and applies alongside our Terms of Use. By using the Platform you accept it. You can read the Platform without telling us who you are, and anything you choose to publish through it is public.
2What we collect and how we use it
We collect what you give us — when you post or echo content, apply to take part, subscribe to updates, contact us or verify a phone number — and information collected automatically about your device, browser and use of the Platform, including through cookies, similar technologies and analytics or product-improvement tools that record how pages are viewed and used. We use it to run, secure, improve and measure the Platform, to communicate with you, to moderate what is posted and to meet our legal duties. Where you post anonymously we show the area you selected, not your identity. We rely on the consent you give when you submit something and on the legitimate uses the Act recognises, such as security and lawful requests.
3Sharing, storage and retention
We do not sell personal data or share it with advertisers, data brokers or political parties. We share it with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, with authorities where the law requires it, and publicly where you have chosen to publish something. It may be stored and processed in India or abroad, and we keep it only as long as the purpose requires or the law allows, after which we delete it or make it anonymous. We protect it with reasonable security measures, though no system is perfectly secure, and the Platform is not directed at children under 18.
4Your rights, changes and contact
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, withdraw a consent you have given, and raise a grievance; if our answer does not satisfy you, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India. Content already published, and copies others have made of it, may remain beyond our control after removal. We may update this Policy, and the version published on this page is the one that applies. Write to [email protected], or to ASSOCIATION FOR CITIZEN DEMOCRACY at C/o S. No. 6, Gill Colony, Kingra, Jalandhar – 144001, Punjab, India, with any request, grievance or question about it.
